Background
Croce and Company was founded in 1987 by Rudy Croce. The firm has since grown to where it currently has six shareholders, each with diverse experience and expertise supported by a staff of twenty-nine experienced professionals. Croce and Company has established a reputation for providing high quality personalized service to our clients, whether the need is for tax management, general accounting services, audits, financial statements, business planning, or financial guidance.

Rudy G. Croce, CPA

Rudy received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of San Francisco where he majored in business administration with an emphasis in accounting.
Rudy's professional experience is in the area of income tax and accounting. He works extensively with individuals and corporations in agriculture, agribusiness, manufacturing and legal and medical professions. Much of his work is with closely held companies as a consultant to owners and executives on topics such as business expansion, management succession and income and estate tax planning.

Larry M. Solari, CPA is a shareholder in Croce & Company Accountancy Corporation and has been with the firm since its inception in 1987. He graduated from California State University, Stanislaus with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration in 1979 and from Golden Gate University with a Masters of Science Degree in Taxation in 1987. Prior to joining Croce & Company, Larry was employed as a manager with a national certified public accounting firm. He has worked in all areas of accounting, taxation and auditing. The clients he serves represent a large range of industries, including manufacturing, agriculture, construction, real estate, transportation, professional, and retail organizations. His background also includes extensive experience in the area of planning and structuring business acquisitions, mergers and dispositions. Larry is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is also actively involved in various other civic and business organizations such as the Farm Credit System where he serves as a member of the board of directors for and as audit committee chairman for American AgCredit ACA and in San Joaquin County where he serves as chairman of the San Joaquin County Assessment Appeals Board. His past accomplishments include serving as president for the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce and as chairman of the San Joaquin County Planning Commission.

Kevin F. Jones, CPA, a shareholder in the firm, has been with Croce & Company since its inception. Prior to joining Croce & Company, Kevin practiced public accounting in the audit and tax divisions of a national certified public accounting firm. Kevin's background is concentrated in the agricultural industry. He provides tax, audit and consulting services for an array of agricultural clients and is experienced in preparing agricultural financial forecasts as well as other farming and agribusiness related projects.
He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Management from California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo and has received a Master's of Science Degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University. In addition, Kevin is a graduate of the California Agricultural Leadership Program and is a member of the American Institute and California Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Throughout his life, Kevin has been involved with many community organizations in a variety of leadership roles.

Jerry W. Butterfield, CPA, joined Croce & Company as a shareholder in 1989. Prior to joining Croce & Company, Jerry owned his own public accounting firm, worked for a national real estate development firm and practiced in the audit and tax departments of an international CPA firm. Jerry's experience of over 30 years encompasses all areas of the income tax planning field with emphasis in real estate and partnership taxation, litigation support and estate planning.
Jerry has a Master's of Business Administration degree from Golden Gate University with concentration in taxation and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from California State University, Sacramento.
Jerry takes an active role in the community and has been a member of the Downtown Stockton Rotary Club for over 20 years and is past president of the Stockton Rotary Endowment. Jerry is active in United Way of San Joaquin County and a founding Board Member and Treasurer of San Joaquin Angels, a non-profit mutual benefit corporation formed to facilitate private investment in start-up stage businesses and enhance regional economic development through growth of local businesses. Jerry is a member of the Stockton Estate Planning Council, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and California Society of Certified Public Accountants. Jerry is an avid wine collector and past president and current cellar-master of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Chapter of the International Wine and Food Society.

Anna M. Lovecchio, CPA, a shareholder in the firm, has been with Croce & Company Accountancy Corporation since 1990. Prior to joining Croce & Company she was an audit manager in the audit division of a national certified public accounting firm where she was involved with both publicly and privately held clients. Anna specializes in providing audit and assurance services for a wide variety of industries, including agriculture, wineries, waste and recycling, wholesale, manufacturing, governmental and non-profit organizations. Anna's expertise includes identifying opportunities for economies in operations, improvements in internal controls, business management advisory consulting and tax planning/compliance.
In addition to the above, Anna has extensive experience with providing offsite Chief Financial Officer services providing high level consulting, accounting and analytical services for clients. She works closely with the Board of Directors and management to resolve daily issues and develop strategic and long range operational planning.
Anna is a graduate of the California State University, Stanislaus and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and California State Society of Certified Public Accountants. She is also active in the local community through involvement with local charities and non-profit organizations.

Duane E. Bulthuis, CPA, is a shareholder of Croce & Company Accountancy Corporation. He focuses on income tax services.
Duane has more than 20 years of experience in public accounting at Croce & Company. In that time, he has served a diverse clientele in such industries as agriculture, wineries, food processors, packing operations, manufacturing, professional services, real estate developers, construction industries and non-profit organizations. His focus is to provide clients with practical tax consulting and tax preparation services.
Duane graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He received his Master's degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University. His professional memberships included the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Duane has been involved with charities and non-profit organizations over the years. These organizations include Junior Achievement (Past Chairman and Past Treasurer), Ironstone Concours Foundation (Treasurer), Zion United Reformed Church (Treasurer), Gideon's International - Ripon/Manteca Area (Treasurer), Providence Christian College (Board Member) and The Stockton Symphony (Past Board Member).

Mark J. Croce, CPA, is a shareholder with Croce & Company and works both with business entities and with individuals to assist them in any way he can with their income tax or financial accounting/financial reporting needs. Mark graduated from Santa Clara University in 1990, received his CPA certification in 1993 while working for an international public accounting firm in the Bay Area and joined Croce & Company in 1994. Mark enjoys the time he spends working with clients, getting to know the people and understanding the individual needs in each relationship.
With over 20 years of experience in public accounting, Mark has worked with a wide array of clients from sole-proprietorships to publicly-traded multi-national corporations. A majority of his time is spent working with family businesses where he coordinates an array of services including financial accounting/financial reporting, income tax planning/compliance, estate planning/business continuity planning and general management advisory services.
In addition to the above, Mark works with a number of governmental and not-for-profit entities in connection with their annual financial statement attestation needs as well as tax compliance. Again, his focus is on the individual needs of each organization and on working with both the board of directors and staff in improving systems and internal controls and on education relative to the constantly evolving regulatory requirements.
Mark is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, where he is a Past-President of the San Joaquin chapter and is a member of the Accounting Principles and Audit Services state committee. He is also active in the local community and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Catholic Charities for the Stockton Diocese and the Children's Home of Stockton Foundation. In addition, Mark serves as an officer of the Downtown Stockton Enterprise Loan Fund.
Although some may say that Mark spends too much time at work, he truly enjoys working with the great group of people at Croce & Company and especially enjoys being able to be a part of helping younger professionals grow in their career.

Pauline received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Santa Clara University. She participated in the Leadership Stockton Class of 2007 and is a member of the Leadership Stockton Alumni Association. Over the years, she has been involved with various community organizations. Pauline is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Paul J. Vander Veen, CPA, is a Senior Manager at Croce & Company and has been with the firm for more than 13 years. Paul graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and received a Masters of Science degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University in 2005.
Paul spends most of his time working to provide income tax services to a wide variety of clients, including agriculture, packing operations, wineries, manufacturing, professional services and non-profit organizations. Paul is passionate about finding ways to lower the tax burden for individuals and businesses through strategic tax planning and by staying on top of current tax legislation.
Paul is also active in the community, currently serving on the Board of Directors for Second Harvest Food Bank in Manteca and as President of the Deacons for Immanuel Christian Reformed Church. Paul enjoys being a leader in the college age ministry at his church as well.

Jared J. VanZwaluwenburg, CPA, is a senior manager at Croce & Company Accountancy Corporation and has been with the firm since 1998. He worked in food service, manufacturing and construction prior to working as an accountant and currently performs both assurance and tax services.
Jared holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Calvin College. He participated in the Leadership Stockton Class of 2006 and is a member of the Leadership Stockton Alumni Association. In addition, Jared has served on the board of directors of Child Abuse Prevention Council of San Joaquin County since 2004 and is a member of the Child Abuse Prevention Council of San Joaquin County Auxiliary.

Ivy B. Cowan, EA, has been with Croce & Company since its inception in 1987. She manages the consulting department and is a Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor. Her focus is on providing clients with information and support with regards to their every day accounting needs. She is familiar with a wide variety of accounting software packages and provides training and support for accounting personnel. Financial statement preparation, payroll tax services, sales tax reports, property tax preparation and audit support are just a few of the services provided.
Ivy is dedicated to the support of her community and continually provides accounting support for various non-profit organizations. She has served as Treasurer on the board of directors for a local non-profit organization.

Jean M. Scott, EA, has been a member of Croce & Company Accountancy Corporation since its inception in 1987. Prior to joining Croce & Company, she practiced in the tax department of a national certified public accounting firm for over nine years.
Jean has many years experience in the area of tax planning, tax compliance and advisory services for closely held businesses, individuals and corporations. Her emphasis is in the estate planning area. She also has nine years experience working in the trust department of a major California bank, specializing in estate and trust administration, estate planning and trust and estate taxation.
Jean has given numerous seminars on estate planning, talking about general and specific laws and ideas in the estate planning area. She has also talked publicly on the special laws and issues affecting estate planning for agricultural clients. She stays current on the changes in law, regulations, tax cases and new trends through her attendance at seminars including the Southern California Estate Planning Forum in San Diego each year.
Jean is involved in various civic organizations, including the Stockton Estate Planning Council, where she served on the board of directors and as president, and has served as an officer of the San Joaquin County Library Literacy Foundation.

David S. Mettler, EA, joined the professional staff at Croce & Company in 2000. He specializes in income tax preparation, serving a variety of clients including those involved in agriculture, real estate, and other businesses. He is experienced with tax exempt organization issues including the exemption application process and the newly expanded reporting requirements that exempt organizations must comply with on their tax returns. He has also served on the board of directors of a local nonprofit organization.
Dave graduated from San Jose State College in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in General Engineering. Prior to joining Croce & Company he had been farming wine grapes and cherries in the Lodi area. He also has 27 years of service in the United States Air Force as a civilian aerospace engineer and active duty F-105 Tactical Fighter Pilot. He enjoys gardening, fly fishing, cooking, and a glass of good red wine, particularly Old Vine Zinfandel.

He recently became a certified valuation analyst and looks forward to providing valuation services.
He has been a licensed CPA since 2005 and a licensed CVA since 2011.
